BAPTISM

At Morning Star Baptist Church, baptism holds significant spiritual and symbolic importance. It is considered a public declaration of one's faith in Jesus Christ and an outward expression of an inward transformation. The act of baptism symbolizes the believer's identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The significance of baptism is rooted in biblical teachings, particularly in the New Testament. One key scripture often referenced is Matthew 28:19-20, known as the Great Commission, where Jesus instructs his followers to baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Another significant passage is Romans 6:3-4, which emphasizes the symbolic representation of being buried with Christ in baptism and rising to newness of life.

Baptism is done through immersion, representing the cleansing of sins and the believer's participation in the death and resurrection of Jesus. It is viewed as a joyous and meaningful step in a person's spiritual journey, signifying their commitment to follow Christ and live a life of obedience to His teachings.

Baptism is offered on the 1st Sunday of each month. Persons admitted by baptism must profess a belief and a faith in Christ, express a desire to live a Christian life, and accept Baptism as one of the ordinances of Morning Star Baptist Church. After baptism, new members are offered the right hand of fellowship and accepted to enjoy all the privileges and responsibilities of other church members.
